JERA Meghnaghat Power Limited observed World Environment Day-2023 on 5th June with awareness initiatives around the project area with the theme “Solution to Plastic Pollution”.
In line with the global campaign #BeatPlasticPolution, the Company organized Quiz Competition, Creative & Sustainable Product Making Competition by re-using wastage plastic materials to create awareness among the students and local people. Three community schools respectively at Meghna Ideal School, Little Flower School and Islampur Primary School situated nearby the project participated in the program on World Environment Day. Attractive prizes were distributed among 90 students of the schools to encourage them to create a greener and more sustainable future for all.
The company also organized Cleanliness drive and Tree Plantation program inside the project area. Through the campaign, the employees of the organization along with the officials from the contractor Samsung C&T Corporation and other sub-contractors pledged together to protect our environment from pollution as well as to reduce waste and support eco-friendly environment.
The initiatives received support and appreciation from the local community, schools, government offices and the local Police Station.
The Project will be developed on the 35 acres land at the Meghnaghat Complex of BPDB provided to the Company on a long-term lease under the Land Lease Agreement. The power generated by the Project will be evacuated through the existing 400 kV network of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB). The Company has secured all necessary approvals and permits and will be commencing construction of the Project shortly.
