JERA Meghnaghat Power Limited has celebrated the World Environment Day-2025 with the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution” to make the global campaign #Beat Plastic Pollution successful. They organized Housekeeping campaign inside the power plant.
To create awareness about reducing the use of plastics among students and local people, they organized Competition for school students focused on reusing and recycling plastic waste to craft innovative and creative product. Students from two community school Protaperchar Govt. Primary School and Ganganagar Preparatory School participated on the program. Attractive prizes were distributed to encourage the participants in the said competition and program.
As a part of Housekeeping campaign, internal cleanliness campaign was organized within the project. Through the Campaign, the employees of the organization along with the officials from the contractor Samsung C&T Corporation pledged together to minimize plastic waste within plant operations, offices, and communities and power a future that is plastic-free and sustainable. The initiatives were well supported and appreciated by the local community schools.
JERA Meghnaghat Power Limited has developed a 718 MW (Net) capacity combined cycle power plant at Meghnaghat, Sonargaon, Narayanganj. The company has adopted world class technology equipment which will deliver efficient and clean power, consume less fuel and minimal emission. The company demonstrates steadfast commitment in reducing pollution, protect bio-diversity and living in harmony with nature.
The Project will be developed on the 35 acres land at the Meghnaghat Complex of BPDB provided to the Company on a long-term lease under the Land Lease Agreement. The power generated by the Project will be evacuated through the existing 400 kV network of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB). The Company has secured all necessary approvals and permits and will be commencing construction of the Project shortly.
